well i got a definite 'reply' to my question about if the white d'uccles from ideal are dominant white or not....i just hatched a solid white one from a pen that has white hens in it but no white roosters.the other looks like a mottled.

Good to know. My D'uccle mutt chick came out yellow/grey without feathered legs but the legs are willow colored...so very odd. Still not sure who it's Daddy is, The feather are comming in white with very tiny black tips, so will be interesting to see how it grows out. The only bantam in there with non-yellow legs that i can think of is the one i was pretty darn sure was a hen and thats i believe a MF/GN Silkie cross. Very cool looking bird but i was pretty sure it was a hen lol. Have to wait until they start laying again so i can hatch more and see what i get.

why cant the dad be a non bantam? one of my red/brown d'uccles from the hatchery has yellow feet. i was told it is recessive

i just found what looks like a solid black d'uccle in the hatching basket this morning.

Well logically i was not even thinking they were a possibility because i dont know how they would breed. You know how big D'uccles are, the only LF Roos that are in there are the Barred Rock and the F1 Barred Buck and they are all huge birds, i mean the full grown Barred Roos stand about half way between my knees and my hips now i am short at 5'1" but that is still a big bird. By comparison i can hold the D'uccle hens in one hand lol. The barred Rocks are the father's of the barred buffs, the barred rock daddies come from Cock Fighting Stock(when it was legal) so basically the guy spent about 60-70yrs breeding their size up to be very large heavy birds, these Roos weigh atleast 12lbs vs the 1.5lb mille hen lol. All the other Roos in there are bantam size and as far as i know have feathered legs..there are some hens with bare legs like the sebright.

i thought MF were suppose to have yellow feet? This chick has willowy/light grey feet and shanks...
