D'uccle Thread

Here are some updated pics of my babies. People wanted to see what the first chick looked like as he got older so i posted a chick pic and a recent teenage pic.
BumbleBee 1 day

Bumblebee 3 months

Raven, an accidental D'Anver D'uccle cross. I didn't keep the pairs separate long enough before egg collection, but I love her!

How did you breed all these colors? (in particular Hikee?)

Wow! Some very beautiful birds on this thread. Angie I hope your hen is doing better.
Here's Ruben at 8 weeks now. Hes been crowing for over a week and he's getting it down a lot better. 4 plain notes now but he's working on the inflection.

To bad ours don't share a coop

he's got a great comb! She's still being a brat! She screams at me when I'm in the back yard. It's always while she's on the roost. I'm stating to think she's just a lazy hen

Guess she wants me to give her loves. She's doing a bit better. Thank you!

Won BV and BB with my Mille Roo. I also took RB and RV with a Mille hen. The judge pulled this guy out of his cage to compare with another rooster for Best Featherleg so almost won the feather leg class! But I know he didn't actually take it due to condition-his tail feathers were not yet fully grown from molting a month ago or so. Very proud of this guy though! What show I did the same with a hen a state fair of Texas I'll get a picture of her and post it

I'm in New England, that was little rhody in RI. Definitely post a pic, I love seeing good quality show birds. I'm excited for the poultry congress in Springfield ma in January. Biggest show in New England. I took BB AND RB with a couple Mille hens out of about 30 D'uccles. Was hoping for best feather leg but there's BIG competition for that, at least 5000 birds total!

His back is kind of long and lots of white in his beard. Those I are the negatives. A good pic of him showing off would be best to judge him. I think he needs a little more time to fill in honestly. He looks decent though. Barely any wattles, big beard, good foot feathering. If your new to showing D'uccles they will get more white with every molt. Every bird will have a prime which they will have a good balance of mottling or spangling. Next year he may be awesome color wise. With the blacks, keep an eye on the red leakage in their hackle(neck) feathers. Form is priority when showing then work on color. Like many have said you need to build the house before you paint it.

Thanks his brother actually has a bunch of red leakage. I thought he was a gold laced D'uccle!
