D'uccle Thread

If I could find a d'Uccle breeder to import from I'd bring some BACK with me! I'm going to Europe next year and don't mind paying for the proper paperwork. I think hand-carrying them back would be preferable to shipping, and all the egg-stress and time that come with it!!

Sounds good... when can we place our orders?

Ahoy! Here are the USDA Procedures for Importing Live Poultry.

Looks like it's actually pretty easy to import poultry from Canada - just get a licensed vet to give them a health certificate in Canada, then drive them across the border within 30 days and have a USDA vet inspect them at the first port of entry.

For importing from Europe it's only slightly more challenging... again they need to have a health certificate dated within 30 days from a licensed vet in their home country, you'll need an Animal Import Permit, and they'll need to stay quarantined at one of three USDA Animal Import Centers for 30 days (there's one in LA, one in Miami, and one near NYC).

Hmm... I may keep this in mind. Would anyone be willing to pay me to import birds for you? THAT'd be a great job.

ETA: Sounds like there are two big shows in Britain in December, according to the British Belgian Bantam Club website...

I looked up and learned these same things last month, and DH agreed that I could proceed (I didn't need the approval, but it's a preffered method of operation

)

Now all I have to do is find a breeder willing to be APHIS tested before the trip. I'd rather do it myself the first time before I try and find a 'mule'. I have family that go to Germany regularly...

I already planned my packing arrangements for the carry-on 'egg basket'....

The main thing I think is wrong is the size of his comb is to large. but by breeding him to the hens that I have I should be able to bring the comb down in size.

Let me know what you think.

It's NOT nice to tease us!! He's gorgeous....love that color!! I think he needs to come down South of the border.

I hope you can find his breeder and maybe get more of them to work with.

wegotchickens - How would you critique your boy right now and what do you think of ZZ so far? I know they are still very young but I need some D'Uccle education.

Oh boy Skittlez!! I just love that Blue, wow!!!

Thank you!!

I actually had no idea on her color. I am calling her a porceline. She is cream and blue.

I just love their puffy cheeks.

I need a newer pic, her colors are getting so vibrant now she is all grown up. I just wish she would give me an egg already! I'm feeling mighty impatient.
