D'uccle Thread

My Marans have a hanging feeder and they do spill a lot of it out. I just don't refill it until they clean up their mess....though I'm sure it helps that their 'floor' is grass.

Heya.

Local to us, Birden Castle Poultry breeds some nice porcelains. One of them, Dan, is the guy who bought Little Blue from me, and they definitely had other porc d'uccles entered in the Oxford show. If you kept your exhibitor list they're on there. There also will be a handful of porcelains and/or eggs available from other breeders across the country in the spring, and from what I've seen there are some very decent birds out there. Which requires patience, of course.

Regardless, porcelains aren't quite as common as MFs, but they're common enough in this country that you can probably start with all porcelains and breed for type from there. Maybe eventually add a really nice MF here and there if you can't get whatever confirmation you're going for, but not necessarily from the start...

Name sounds familiar, but im pretty sure im the only one that had the Porc's at the oxford show?

Where do you see the Porc eggs i always search for them but never find them, or at least not this spring.

I have porce eggs Celtic, and would be glad to share them with fellow BYC peeps

Let me know if interested and we can work it out privately

Hmm... I thought they had a porc or two at that show. They definitely have at other shows, and they breed them. My MF hen is from their stock, and my porc roo was as well (gave him to Shay). They were the parents of that d'uccle cockerel I was selling at Oxford, and the pullet I kept.

I think I've mostly seen eggs here, though a few via eBay, and there are usually a few porc chicks at the swaps around here.

Yeah, i'll search around in the spring.

Thank you!

I like this idea. We currently have a sloping pipe with holes cut in it. Small holes minimize waste but don't feed correctly. large holes mean they can slop it all over. I did put a larger pan around the base of the pipe, but that defeats a lot of the point in having a pipe feeder IMO. It does catch some of the thrown food though, and more is getting eaten instead of wasted.

I don't really do much with them, but they have friends in with them.
