D'uccle Thread

Thanks Misty! I love to look at him. We are taking him to our farm show next week and are hoping he does well. We have some eggs from him in the bator that are coming along nicely. I can't wait to see the little GN babies!

I'll be uploading a couple pics in a bit of my lavender mottled girl, and the "Lavender GN" roo that I promised you and Lori. Check em out and tell me what you all think about them. The Lav GN is interesting for sure. Dont know what else to call him right now, because thats his color, GN pattern and lav where white should be

We have two porcelain d'uccle's that we started prepping for a show in two weeks. We bathed them last night and their feathers seem so rough and dry. Their foot feathers look terrible too. They live in a large parrot cage in our basement with multiple tiers. We will bathe them two more times prior to the show. Any other suggestions to get them feathers in better condition? We just started supplimenting them with a showbird suppliment also. Thanks. The show is a 4-H show for my daughter and it will be her first time showing them and using them for showmanship.

Porcelains are notorious for having bad feathering. Having them in a cage is probably messing with their foot feathers. Is there anyway you can put them on pine shavings?

Gypsy, let's also see your LEMONS!!!

I am very excited you are playing with this color.

acid_c, no eggs here but thanks for asking. Unfortunately I foolishly let go of my beautiful little golden neck pullets last year when I could not find a roo . . . and this year I found a roo.

Went all the way to GA to get those pullets, too. Ah well. . .

I got them from a hobby bantam lady in Atlanta (via craigslist!), and unfortunately I have lost her info. By the darker color of the pullets I wondered if they were not from Brian Massengale's lines while he still had golden neck d'Uccles. He liked breeding for the darker golden color. (Now I think he only breeds the booteds.)

That info probably doesn't help you find more though, eh! You might shoot an e-mail to Brian (through Shady Oak Bantams website) and ask where he sent his, or perhaps inquire through the Booted Bantam/d'Uccle Club. You can also keep watching the GA craigslist sites; you may come across some as we get into spring.

Good luck!

Heres the lavy mott girl, hope you can see the lavender slowly showing up. She's dirty too

And then the 'lavy GN'...it should be obvious on him that the white isnt white at all. Sorry for the crappy pics, two hands just isnt enough when taking so many pics (or trying to anyway)

They are both very pretty! What are the parents of the blue GN? What are you planning to breed him to? (I know I ask a lot of questions!)
