There is a breeder (can't remember his name at the moment) who breeds here in California. He told me a MF x Black Mottled would produce Brown Red. I'll see if I can dig up his email addy & send him the question.

Ok, I stand corrected~!!! I contacted him & Brown/Red is made from Black x Mille Fleur. Sorry for the misinformation.

Is this a brown/red? Just curious...I culled him last year from program due to lack of correct feet feathering. The color is what I was curious about??

I can't see his head, but if it is brown/red, then he was a Brown /Red. I don't remember if Mr. Carman told me whether or not Brown/Red is a ABA recognized color. However, I can find out if you are interested.

Yes, he was...I just wanted to make sure I had the correct coloration on the bird so I was sure I was speaking "truth", lol. Any info you want to send would be most appreciated. I think (from what I've seen online) they are stunning. However I have enough projects going right now....

Teddiliza, I don't think that is a DQ but it is probably considered a flaw. That said, if he had all other characterists 'perfect' then I'd say he could win over a bird with more even coloring but other flaws. Does that make sense?
And it looks to me like his comb, wattles, beard, muff and feet are quite nice.

Hey Doug, hows the weather??? 6 pm and we were in a heat wave!!!!!!!!!!! 33 degrees Fahrenheit. Now that is some kind of nice weather!

Sorry to you guys that are struck with all that snowy weather, its just over done Mother Nature. geesh.

Gypsychic- correct me if I'm wrong or in my line of thinking but at one point with my blue standard Cochins, the "red" was prominent, and the club pres told me that its when you breed 2 birds that have been "bled" out of color, in which the roo was a splash, and the color reverts back to the "jungle fowl", the original chicken . But you know, that chicken with the red on black is pretty sweet for a pet, nothing wrong with him, great feather quality!!

This coop, rabbit hutch-like will be used as a bantie coop. Will be ordering two Belgains and a feather footed (or whatever) from McMurray for it.
