Thanks!
Do you have your babies on Chick Start? You might give them a little manna pro gamebird start on the side. I think d'Uccles need more protein than average to help 'finance' all those foot feathers and hocks. I always supplement a tad. Not too much, so that other issues aren't caused, but a little more than non-featherfoot birds need.
They're eating Purina Med chick starter and living with the Serama chicks hatched the same week. Very cute in there with the tiny ones. I think they are happy to have a few more friends. How much exactly is a tad? I will see what I can do...maybe egg yolk?
Serama are adorable as chicks!!
Add some d'Uccles and it would too much cuteness....
Sorry about the 'tad'. About a thimble-full per bird every 2-3 days, usually after they're a week old and the feathers have started coming in good.
There's a little measuring cup in the manna pro that I use. I like the mp because it has so much other beneficial stuff in it.
When I was a kid we used to scramble eggs for the chicks and add some dirt to it.
That was back in the Dark Ages, and was what my Grandpa taught Mom to do when she was a kid and the chicks needed a little boost. Talk about giving some extra minerals LOL.
Sheesh, I'm rambling. Time to go to bed!!
I wouldn't give them too much yolk too often.
Thanks!
