D'uccle Thread

I see a lot of people have gotten their Porcelain D'uccle from hatcheries. Do U get good quality from the hatchery. Where might one be able to find a standard list for these little biddies. I hatched my two from eggs from Gabbard Farms, has anyone else hatched there eggs? Here are pic's of my pair.

Yeah true, Its tough cuz there are not Manny breeders to begin with and even less Porcelain breeders. So i think ill keep my two porc, and sell my MF hen (if anyone wants her I will give you a deal and I will ship) So this year ill probally look for a decent MF or Porc roo for my two girls.

Please don't give up! Your mille is a sweet little thing, she will sell in a heartbeat if you insist on selling her... But honestly, look at how few people are listing mille fleur eggs on here or on ebay. I bet if you gave it 2 years you'd already have better stock than most of what you see online for sale. I think the problem I've noticed is that people give up too fast, and there's not many seasoned experienced breeders (of any breed) left around. You should buy chooks chicks mille rooster in Kansas if he's still available and get another mille hen. More d'uccles, more d'uccles! I want to populate all the backyard flocks with d'uccles! I want d'uccles to take over and dominate the poultry pet world! I want d'uccles to wag their little tails and make the silkies and cochins move over in the show ring! I want world domination of d'uccles! Okay, I know, going overboard.

I think my goal over the next 1-2 years is to work on the combs in my hens. The roosters have good combs and foot feathering etc, but the hens combs are all wacky. Teddie I hatched these kids last year early summer I do believe. It was so hectic around here I really didn't keep track it was my first attempt to use a broody, who ended up smashing a couple because more then one hen want to set. Any who they are still under a year and she just gave me her first egg this week. I really like these kids and are working on the D'uccles and Marans and trying to stay focused. I saw the black molten and really like they also. The pic's where taken sometime early this year. I am excited about the eggs and I want to set them on the 20th of this month if that isn't too late. (I'm kind of going by the moon phases with my hatches this year and the 20 and 21 are the best days to set according to the farmers almanac) So any time that week would be wonderful. I have Blue Marans from peachick along with my own FBCM. I would love for my FBCM to go broody around that week. She is an excellent setter. Then I could do an experiment on shipped eggs as to if it is better to use a broody hen or to incubate. Just let me know how much money you need from me and I will pay pal you. Thank you. My be with the different bloodlines we could exchange eggs next year. So have you heard of Gabbard Farms, I've been thinking of ordering more eggs later this year? Count me in I love the breed as and would love to enhance this breed. Michele

I have 8 MF eggs in my incubator. I'm worried they aren't fertile. I still have a few days before I candle them. I tried last night but the eggs are so small it is hard to see much of anything going on in there.

My GC babies are in that awkward teen phase. They are very unhappy with me because DH rearranged their 'house'.
I had a really bad week so DH is humoring me and doing a bit of a coop make-over. It'll be absolutely awesome when it's done, but in the meantime... well, you know what it's like when you are mid-remodel; You can't find anything and chaos is worse than normal.
Hopefully it will all be completed Friday, and I can settle everyone in. If I can rehome some birds over the weekend it will make the transition smoother.


Darn millies still won't lay. Have resorted to adding cayenne to their treat food. Don't know if that really works or not but they sem to like it.....

Here are my D'Uccles with their Delaware sister, Tasha, and mama Nugget. They're 12 weeks old now, Tasha is a week younger, and Nuggs is still being mama. It's very windy today, so Beau is holding his tail down as a wind break, LOL.
