D'uccle Thread

Mine isn't flighty but has taken to hiding around the garden lately.... She's 13 weeks old so not really ready to lay yet, she just like hiding. It's really annoying because she's black and brown so it's a bugger to have to find her...

I stopped at Page 2... just to say WOW!!! I'd never seen or heard of these before, but that LemonDrop roo on Page two and the first lady on Page 1.... They're amazing! That roo is like gold!

i thought i read this a while back, but i am curious if anyone else may have the problem of a young roo/cockerel that seems to always hold one leg up like it is hurting them? it seems that mine is doing it all the time with the same leg. it looks like he has all his foot feathers in but they are always in rough shape. i don't see any missing feathers but i do see new/blood filled ones coming in. he was hatched last October and i got him when he was a few days old. he's hatchery but very good looking and has a great temperament!

i was also hoping someone nearby the NH, ME, MA borders may have a couple of pullets or hens they are willing to sell? i could use a few dedicated girls for him to focus his attention on instead of my favs and cochins. PM me to get my attention faster! i'm not always watching the message boards.

My pullet does this too. MY theory is the feathers were annoying her until they develop properly. It's kinda funny to watch her 'hover' leg though. She does a different foot every few hours though​

struck an awesome deal today. Traded 5 silkies for get this FOURTEEN d'uccles.

I am not officially over run with d'uccles. and I'm loving it. 12 mille fleurs and 2 mille / mottled crosses.

I have a rooster that came as my free exotic chick with a hatchery order. I've never had D'uccles or even seen one before.how can. Tell if he's a porcelain or a self blue? He's mostly blue but has a little bit of tan/yellowish color on him. He's seven weeks old right now.
He's a very sweet boy and very cute, although I probably won't keep him because I also have two OEGB roosters and OEGB Pullets. Hopefully, I can find someone who wants him.

I am new to the D'uccle breed and know nothing. I started with 4 Mille Fleur chicks - two pairs. I lost both of my girls so I now have two roos. I think it is best to only keep one and think I have found a home for the second. However, in deciding who I keep I'm not sure what I'm looking for. They were elusive for pictures today. One is shorter and stouter and the other is taller and thin. Their combs each match them, shorter and thicker and tall and spiky. The shorter one also has a thicker tail with more black in it. As far as feathers they seem the same with the Mille Fleur spots and full feathered feet and muffs. At what age are their mille fleur complete?
