I have 4 full sisters to the three roos mentioned above: a mille, 2 mottled blues, and a black mottled. The girls I would breed these boys to are unrelated and are a porcelain and what I think is called a goldnecked. I checked all their toes last night and the black mottled, porcelain and gold necked hens and all my roos are fine, but I was bummed to find ALL the other hens are missing both claws on their 3rd toes on both feet

try breeding your mottleds to mottleds and see what you get (try to keep the same colors together ei blue mottled with blue mottled)

I'm planning on breeding my mille rooster to the porcelain hen and my black mottled w/ gold roo to my gold neck hen. I didn't want to breed the siblings to eachother, especially with the missing claws. I'm waiting until April though, when I get my incubator. The suspense is killing me!!!!

I'm in the same boat accept its with my silkies can't wait to get the incubator

Oh. my hatch is not going so well. I have 1 dead as a result of my 3 yr old running in to the room with the brooder and me yelling 'NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! as she grabs a chick, not carefully mind you. Then another looks like it might have oomphalitis or a small loop of intestine caught outside its bellybutton, one with splayed leg which I have splinted, and another which looks like it has hydrocephalus in its neck region. Sigh. I think I might have 1 porcelain out of the whole hatch. I did NOT monitor the humidity this hatch, so I am learning that I can't slack off. I just put 21 more in the incubator with the turner while my 'hatchers' are in the Little Giant without the turner. At least I know my porcelains are slacking this time of year! So I'll hold off on baby pics till I have all my 'survivors'.

I guess I should just be grateful I had any hatch with the early on temperature problems wanting to stay 103-104!

Sorry to hear about your hatch going bad! I know how you feel, and somehow i could just picture my 3 yr old doing the same thing! Ugh! I had a hatch go like that too, it was my first one ever, mistakes only make you stronger and the next hatch will go better!

has any one ever had pullets turn into cockerels? my 2 are 2 months old tomorrow and their combs have gotten slightly red but they are very very small i am hoping i am seeing things

I don't think that happens lol. D'Uccles are the easiest for me to tell the roos from pullets. Usually pretty early, by the 2nd week. My hatch 6 weeks ago resulted in 2 boys and 6 girls good, huh. I got one Mille boy and one porcelain.

Probably just little pullets 'maturing'...my young ladies do the same thing. Also, when old enough, the hens combs get darker red meaning they are almost ready to breed and lay

I got a quad of mille fleur's this weekend. How much is too much white? They dont have any solid white feathers, but alot of white tipped. If you have pictures that would help alot. I really like there coloring, just not sure its correct. Also if its not, what could be done to darken the chicks up?
