I have Porcelain and Mille Fleur d'Uccles. And Bantam Cochins.Does anyone know of someone on the list that would ship eggs or chicks? The egg purchase with the other person on there wasn't good..but as they said, they had too much going, I guess, and now I am back to trying to buy eggs and get them shipped, without all the mistakes? So, any guidance here would be great! Still hoping to buy froma breeder, not hatchery, but may have to try that route?

can you post her pic? has her comb and wattles turned red? i would imagine that she would already have started to lay. is she by herself or does she have other hens with her? her eggs would be a slightly tented white egg making it look like a light cream color. heres some d'uccle eggs and what they look like. sorry pics arent that great but these are in the incubator so im not going to hold them out for to long

the temps they have go from 5 to 10c. the only thing is my breeding pens are currently in the basement thats why its artificial light i will say 1 thing even tho im givin them artificial light they still only get like 8-12 hours a day and my question was when do they start to lay see if this was a silkie i wouldnt be surprised she hasent laid yet as silkies take 8-12 months to lay there first egg. i want to incubate her eggs because she is my show stock but i havent had these 2 for long and dont know a thing about this breed so i really dont know when they start to lay she is about 11 months old know should i be worried she hasent laid an egg?
I feel terrible. My great Dane was out(he has killed 1 chicken once but was starting to get better), I was taking pictures of my chickens when they all started to go up for the night. I grabbed my d'Uccle rooster and took him outside to get one more picture of him(for my website). I tried to get a picture but he was running away from me and trying to get back inside. Right when I was about to give up and put him back inside, he flies up (trying to get through the chicken wire) and my dog comes up and grabs him and runs off. I was yelling my head off at my dog, I was so upset and mad. He was a pet not just a chicken. I feel absolutely terrible about it and I'm really angry at the dog(who I will be getting rid of, I can't risk getting anymore chickens killed).
Not sure exactly where your location is, but there's a show in NC on April 14th. Since the club president is one of the show planners, there should be a decent turn-out of d'Uccles and booteds. I know you want a roo sooner than that, but I can't help you. I settled for a breeder quality lav roo because I couldn't find a better one. My hens are all PRIMO, though, and the club pres said I should hatch some pretty babies even with the lesser quality roo.
I got my first eggs from the lav pen this week, so I'm hoping fertility is there and I'll hatch some babies!
I have 3 black d'Uccle chicks in the brooders this very moment.![]()
If I have to I will wait until the show. Karl is helping me look also. I got a couple of very nice booted that he is wanting. Right now I have 8 different colors of d'uccles. I just need a few here and there to complete my flock.
