d'uccle with a "bum" leg (update getting worse - Video too)

I've been googling my fingers off...

so far my only guess would be botulism - but I don't met the environmental conditions

Some of that information sounds right but some does not in my case. The first pullet who came down with this didn't die for over a week and other than forcing fluids and separating her, I didn't do much for her. This article said that they die within 24 hours.

Mine lived like this for months and I ended up culling to keep her from suffering this winter on the cold ground. So that wouldn't be right for mine either. Other than her bum leg she acted 100% normal.

Mine is a lavender pullet/hen. She is not ill, developed problem late summer when she was about 4-5 months old. Problem appeared overnight. No symptoms of pain/injury. I think this could be genetic. Hatchery stock, will try to find out what hatchery from my feed store.

Gets around with a hopping-skipping walk. Enjoys her life & seems to have fun, but I have to watch out for her, a lot of my birds seem offended that she is alive. (I guess they sense her weakness) So she oly goes out with her other safe penmates, never the birds from other pens or standards. I keep her in a pen with deep straw bed in yard to keep her clean. I don't use bowls for food or water. Too hard for her to get to & drowning risk.

I have bird #2 doing this now.. This one is a rooster.

I put vaseline all over the pullets legs and toes tonight... hoping maybe it's leg mites.
I tried to look, but I can't tell.

If she responds, I will treat the rest.

I just edited my oringal post with a video I did last night ... I'll post here too incase someone doesn't see it.

anyone's chick get this bad? it's like she is having spasms /tremors ?

still eating happily - drinking via syringe - the poo is irregular in timing but normal coloring

kimb, it's almost like she is trying to sit up. Did you check her for mites?
poor thing...she has a good appetite.

My rooster, the one acting up now, his legs look like he may have leg mites.
I am going to buy more Vaseline today.
it's hard to cover their legs totally, but I am going to try like heck!

I don't see anything but I have vaseline ... and I will smother her in it..

I'm also going to do a flush - see if that helps.

she is definitely trying to get up - she also tries to scratch her head and can almost flip over trying... so I've been gently scratching her head for her... her appetite comes and goes - it's much poorer this am . just put the poly vi sol drops on and gave her some plain water.

I'll flush & do electrolyte water.

I dont' think it's botulism as she can pick her head up and her wings are only droopy when she stops fluttering (probably get's tired).
