How are the eggs doing, @Ch1cken Tender?

I haven’t gotten to check on them yet today, but as of yesterday they were all doing fine! I’ll update their status when I get a chance to check on everybody. I also intend to candle them on the 14th to see if they are all viable!
Actually, do you think it’s a bad idea to candle a broody hen’s eggs? I know for sure that she won’t leave the nest (Since this is my first hatch, I’ve been pestering her a little bit ), but is it bad for the eggs or something?

I just checked on everybody and the eggs are still intact! Eggatha is still being a very good broody .

I’ve been meaning to ask, should I separate Eggatha from the rest of the flock? She is most certainly the lead hen and she has seniority over everybody else (except for Buddy). Also, should I give her a different nesting box regardless? The box she is currently in (it’s actually a bucket ) is approximately one foot off the ground, so should I move her to something on the ground?

Whoop! I may attempt to candle eggs tonight; Eggatha has gotten a little testy though…

So… I just finished candling, and I believe almost all are developing! I even saw movement in eggs 1 and 5! Unfortunately, egg 3 has a very clear blood ring… Sorry, Welch . Fingers crossed everybody else makes it, though!
