Duck Bumblefoot - how long?

She is only in the bucket for a short time. It allows me to mix the Epsom salt in a smaller amount of water to concentrate the time for her to soak. Vet prescribed the soak 2-3 times a day. We keep her in there for 15-20 min or so.

My heart goes out to you and your duck. Bumblefoot is no fun.

i had 2 cases of it this Spring. My girl, Sugar, had 2 vet surgeries. One to remove the infection, and the other to amputate her toe, as the infection caused the bones in the toe to break badly.

Today is the first day she could leave the duck house since April.

I had to give my duck a lot of meds for a long period of time due to bumblefoot. I found that getting on my knees, with one leg on each side of her to contain her wings, making sure to create a triangle with the tips of my feet touching so she couldn't back out from my hold, then gently pull her head to my chest, holding between her bill and neck,(my chest would keep her from pulling back and my hand kept her from pushing down). and opening her beak with one hand and sliding the syringe down the side of her mouth, past the crucial airway in the center, then administering a little at a time, to give her time to swallow, (depending on how much med as you don't want it to pool and then spill over into her airway causing her to aspirate). This is the only safe way that I found to give liquid meds by myself. I made sure to never put any weight on her back.
I hope this might help. I apologize if it doesn't make sense as it's not easy to explain but I will try to clarify if needed. Wishing you all the best with your duck

here she is as of today. The open wounds have healed well. The little bumble is almost 100% gone. We have 5 more days of the antibiotics. She is walking very well right now. Doesn’t show any signs of pain. From the been there done it folks, you think we might be done in 5 more days?

Did you get the kernel out at one time? Her foot looks really good.

we did dig Several fragments of one a few weeks ago But the swelling didn’t go down much. She tried again a week later and couldn’t find any kernels It was just fleshy and bloody the second time. Was very little blood the first attempt.
