Duck hatch-a-long october/november!!!!!! come join!

Okay, I know you aren't "supposed" to take the littles out of the bator until they are all done hatching...  But I just couldn't stand it any longer.  The lonely, forlorn cries of the gung ho first hatcher were more than I could bear.  So now she is tucked in my shirt against my chest and is much happier (and quieter) now. Every now and then she pops her head out and starts peeping and I talk to her and she snuggles back in to sleep again.  :love

Loli take them out when they r dried off I just watch the humidity so it doesn't hurt the rest hatching!

As long as I don't keep it open long the humidity will go right back up within a couple of minutes.

Number 2 finally hatched!

Soon as it fluffs up I'll put it in the brooder with number 1. She starts crying if I leave her alone very long.

As long as I sit and talk to her she'll nap under the light or trundle around checking things out. But if I leave for more than a few minutes she starts squeaking until I come back. Hopefully a sibling will make her less lonely.

Lol silly babies they r always like that they say ducklings are worse!

Well having a sibling to keep her company made her a much happier little peep. And now she has SEVEN to keep her company.

All four of the LF eggs have hatched and 4 of the bantam eggs have hatched. 5 bantam eggs left, but no signs of pipping on them yet and I haven't heard any of them chirping so far. Will get some pics up sometime today.

How exciting glad they are hatching for u!

Pretty snow and VERY pretty ducks!

Thanks its prwtty but freezing!

Sadly, the last 5 bantams died in the shell without ever pipping. I hadn't seen any movement or heard any sounds from them, so I candled them tonight and there was no movement at all. Just to be sure I very carefully pipped them. 4 of them were fully formed but the air cells were super small, so I think they maybe couldn't move enough to pip and get out. The 5th one looked like it quit several days ago. So I think maybe I kept too much humidity during the incubation and the air cells didn't shrink enough. I've been reading about the dry incubation, and after this m more inclined to try it. I hope my duck eggs still have plenty of time to lose enough moisture for proper air cell size.
