Duck House/fence near pond?

I am curious.....We have a 2 1/2 acre pond....If I put the duck house near the pond do I need to have a fence/run? Will they be on the pond all day? I am guessing I should have some sort of fence so I can put their feed and water in there and then just let them into the pond after they ate? THANKS!

Ducks prefer to sleep on or near their pond. They may not be on it all the time, but the will be near it all the time. Make sure they associate food with you so they will come to you and call to you when they see you. Predators could be a problem with all that (wonderful) space.
