Duck Incubation time.. (first timers)

I might of figured out finally what happened. Some how she might of messed with the factory settings? which shut off the heating element or kept it really low. I am testing it out now to see if it goes back up, wish me luck. No idea how she could of done it since it took me all day to figure out how to fix it back to factory setting on the temps

They should be fine :) Some people do wash eggs in a dip like that, but there's no reason to do it if you trust the source the eggs are from. Since the eggs are from your own birds, there's no need to do a wash and dip. The dip is mostly to kill any diseases that could be on the shell of the egg. Not necessary when you're doing your own eggs :) I don't do it when I do shipped eggs either, but that's a personal preference. Some people dip in Oxine, because supposedly Oxine can even slip through the pores in the egg and kill mycoplasma etc before the chick hatches. I don't know if that's actually true, but some people say it works.

In fact, you don't even need to wash dirt and mud off eggs. I hatch muddy eggs whenever I get them without washing them and it doesn't hurt anything to leave them muddy.

As for them having been stored on their sides for a bit, I wouldn't worry about that either. While storing them fat end up tends to help them last longer, it's not like a broody hen is storing her eggs upright in her nest before she starts to sit on them. So I doubt it hurt them.

I agree, hens dont store eggs pointy side down so it probably wont affect anything:) good luck with this hatch, i love incubating ducks its so much fun!

Well candled all 6 eggs, none of them are fertilized. So first time was a major bust. I have seen my blue swedish mount and try to mate my blue swedish female and my mallard, but have not caught him on the lame pekin. The two he has tried to mate with have not started to lay eggs yet, so it was a shot with these 6. Now what to do with the 6 eggs, I have heard you can feed eggs to ducks.. now with these being in the incubator for 10 days, are they safe for ducks to eat or should i just toss them?

Well my Daughter wants me to try again.. Have 13 eggs from the last 2 weeks.. going to throw them in the incubator and see if we will get some hatches.. Wish us Luck.. Again I have not seen Prince mate with Cleaner so it is a shot in the dark.

@GeoGreyWolf , double check your incubator. I have two like yours. One is a brand name Janoel 48, the other is the Chinese knockoff, and *both* have fans.
This is mine with the grate off so I can clean it.
