Duck Pond/pool pictures

As I said in the posting it is the pond I will be using right now I actually have them in the house on a similar set up just a smaller version it is 6' by 20' and 20" deep same filter and pump my hen call duck is actually hatching a clutch of 11 this week on it the mandarins not yet the **** drake call is still a little to bossy still for them to hook up properly!

This has got to be most awesome set up I have ever seen inside ones home. Your ducks are beautiful. Where in your home is this located? if you don't mind me asking.

Its in the basement the pond used to be my koi pond for wintering them but found out they did better outside all year temp change keep affecting them. Oh by the way here is a couple of shots of the first three hatch of the eleven !

So precious, Congrats. What a joy to be able to have something like this inside in the dead of winter.

We have an aviary around a small natural pond that is spring fed. I need a way to reinforce the sides of the pond because the ducks keep digging the mud between the stones or rearranging the stones and the walls are degrading. The constant water supply is awesome. Couldn't imagine having a pool.

Fast forward to May 2007 Pond is a bit choked with Algae.
But along comes a Wild Mummy Duck and these were the first ducklings.

Once upon a time in late August 2004 there was a field with some faulty terracotta land drains running through it down to my ditch and I thought, that low wet area might make a good pond.

So I spoke to a nice man with a digger and I said dig until you can't get rid of any more of the spoil making it bigger rather than deeper.
So he dug

and scraped

And dug till there was no where left to spread the clay and also because it was already starting to fill.

My two eldest boys thought it was quite amazing.

That is SOOOO awesome!!!!!

Fist time on this thread and it is absolutely exhausting trying to get through all the posts so i am just going to ask my question lol. Has anyone tried relying solely on natural solutions to keep the pond clean. Scavengers like plecostomus ( catfish) snails and tadpoles freshwater mussels and clam, Lillies added bacteria etc? If so how well has it worked, I am looking to place a 4x6 and 2ft deep pond and things are tight so trying to shave off a little bit of the expense on the water bill without dropping hundreds more on a decent filtration system.
