I had a beautiful 12x12 duck run built last Fall (waited for 17 years to get one lol) attached to my beautiful new Reeds Ferry Shed coop.

When the builder was done I painted THREE layers of Ames Safe-T deck sealant on the plywood floors. I had read it would stand up to duck and chicken poop plus daily hose spray downs. Unfortunately it DIDN’T last two weeks and I went through a very frustrating winter (I live in MA). It’s about 90% peeled up and am back to bare plywood now.

I’ve blocked the animals out for about a month now and have fans blowing on the floors to really dry them out.

I’m looking for tried and true recommendations for a product that will seal the plywood and stand up to fowl poop and water sprays (plus dripping from their messy bathing & drinking habits 🙄)

Please help!!

What I use on my plywood floors are the thick rubber sheets from Sam's Club. They are on some of the pallets that have liquid in them to ensure if they spill it will be contained. One of the maintenance men that works there saves them for me. I don't really have a good picture of them to show you but I cut them to the shape of the pen and a couple of times a year I take them out, hose them down, and put them back in after letting them dry.

That’s a good idea too. But I’m looking for a permanent sealer to keep water off the plywood floors. I spray the run down daily and I’m concerned about myself falling on the wet plastic 🤪
