UPDATE: TJ is fine now, after a nap and a salad she got up like nothing ever happened. I love her and got a bit freaked out.
I have an 8 week muscovy named TJ, rescued right after hatching, no mom being tortured by other older ducks. She is sort of a houseduck. We spend days outside but sleeps Indoors. Today it is raining so she is indoors, I went outside to get a package and the door was leaned, I think she pushed it to follow me and it was too heavy a closed on her leg or foot? I just heard the chirping, opened the door and she hobbled. She walks but Def it hurts or is weakened. She is sleeping now but is leaning to the other side. The avian vet is only in on Fridays, do I keep her still and confine or let her do what she chooses? She swims twice a day, should I still have her swim? Keep her from walking? The injury is not visible and happened about 1 hour ago.
History: She has had baby duck crumble with brewers yeast since week one and then switched to "grow" crumble, She also eats some oatmeal , greens, digs up worms and bugs. I have a bottle of electrolytes, and another immune booster (I bought them based on reading a lot about ducks on this site, just in case). Should I give her those in her water?
I have a ton of wild outdoor ducks that I have helped with Injuries over the years. I have never had a domesticated duck, and never a duck who hates other ducks, so she is a loner, aside from wanting to be with me or my husband at all times. After weeks of trying, she is willing to mingle with outdoor ducks but she hates them and picks fights or hides from them, depending on the day. So she is still a pet duck who spends a lot of time outside around other ducks.
I just want to do everything I can to help her heal until she can go to the vet, if that is necessary. I am awaiting a call back, due to covid restritctions it is not so easy to get a duck vet apparently. Any help is appreciated.
