Hi, I'm new to the site and to the world of ducks and fowl in general. This is y first post on here and it stems from the need for help. 8 days ago we welcomed our first 3 ducks into their new home. Just a few days in and our drake (loyd mayfeather) was favoring one of his feet, so we wrangled him up for a better look. All the research I've done always points back to bumblefoot. So we have been treating it as such. Epsom soak and pick off what we can and dress it with polysporin (tried to find vetericin but not available locally.) Then do our best to keep his feet dry and clean.
My worry is that we are wrong and it isn't bumblefoot at all. It's so hard to know when I have no real life reference of what bumblefoot looks like. So I'm looking for an experienced eye to help. It's on both of his feet and to me some of it looks like bumblefoot but other spares look like a strange wart.
Any help that can be offered is greatly appreciated. We want to offer the best care we can for our birds.

Thanks flufftheduck. For the welcome and your thoughts. We were feeling the same about it. Not to sure what the spikey thing is. Wondering if it could be a wart. Do they get warts on there feet?

I never got this tag. Looks like a black scab which would be the bumble. The other is over grown scales. There is a name for it but I can't remember what it is. Probably soaking in warm Epsom salt water will help that too. You want to soak to help loosen the scab so you can easily peel it off it may have nothing under it or a plug of infection. Once you open the scab your going to want to clean out the hole sterile tweezers can help then pack with antibiotic salve and wrap to keep it clean while healing.

Thanks so much for tha advice Miss Lydia. Were doing are best to treat him. Poor guy is not making it easy. He absolutely hates being held. He freaks out to the point where I'm afraid hes going to hurt him self. The last thing I want is to hurt my duck while I'm trying to help him. Any tips on helping them relax.
