Duckling convulsing

My 5th had epilepsy. His was caused basically by poor sleep. Epilepsy is more common in children than most people realize. The vast majority outgrow it. I would keep an eye on the duck, but it is entirely possible that they will outgrow it. I know that fats are essentially brain food. So if you can find a good source of fat to give your duckling it could help.

I turned 40 a couple weeks ago, I'm homeschooling our children (we've been homeschooling since the start.) My eldest is starting 11th this fall, my 5th starting 1st, my youngest is almost 7 months. :thumbsup

I have 7 geese, and my kids adore the idea of taking them on if need be in the future.

I didn't even think to add some flax seeds to their food. I should maybe interwebz search if ducks can have them.

Haha. My kids are too young and indecisive to agree to such things. Maybe some day. My oldest wants to be a zoologist, so she would be the natural choice for geese-custodian.

What about having the kids scavenge rocks to pick up some worms for her? Supplement with lots of worms for a week and see if it helps? They have a lot of protein and niacin. My boys would love to go digging for worms if I told them to!

The ducks and the chicks have a practically constant supply of mealworms. All the kids throw a handful in when they walk in to the closet because they spoil the birds rotten. The dogs are getting jealous.

My Runner had the same kind of fits. Always in the morning. She stopped having them around 3.5 months. I hope the same for you because it’s horrible to watch. :hugs

They really are.

Generally, hers are in the morning, but I have seen them at night, also. I have a tendency to check on them after they get put to bed by the kids to make sure it was done correctly, and my cellphone light has made it happen previous to upping her nutrients.

I have no idea what type of ducks any of them are (bin surprise at a random TSC). Figure I'll just wait until they're big enough to show some actual feathers. Also, not 100% on any sexing. Lol

I think I was waking them up before they were ready to get up LOL. I just wanted them to get up and play with me ;). Two of my ducks were a bin surprise at TSC too! They told us they were Pekins, but we ended up with a Pekin and a Runner - and we love them both to pieces! Sexing is hard for most breeds when they're young - I think you'll know by voice pretty soon. The males peep longer then get raspy - the females start getting a deeper sound. Feel free to post videos later and the BYC community can help you identify them. Enjoy those babies!
