Hmm ... call eggs are super small, right? Would you have to turn them by hand? 'twould be very worth it! I need some ... but I can't have any.
I can't have them either! :barnie :hugs

We can sigh together.... One day I will, but as of now I don't think my fences are good enough, and I don't want em to get eaten!

Yeah, I'm hoping some day I will have some, too. I'm scared that a hawk would get them cuz they're so tiny. And they don't lay very well.

Call eggs do not do well in a turner... always best to hand turn them...

Calls are a hawks favorite snack... and owls... secure house and a covered run are a must...

Mine lay like champs... :D

400

Mature Snowy drake... note, full green head, claret bib is fully frosted, and claret extends down his sides... also, smoky black in the center of his back feathers... disregard the grey duck to the right, lol...

400

Just starting to mature female... note the coloring throughout her body... smoky black streaks in middle of her back feathers...

400

Fully eclipsed drake... note, to the back left is his son, Bubs, still in juvie feathering... very similar...

400

Eclipsed female... and the wingbar is muted, no longer blue, but note the difference in color from the pic you showed...
I am not an expert by any means when it comes to the colors of little ducks. But.....

I AM EXPERT IN OBSERVING THEIR ROUNDNESS CUTENESS CHUBBY CHUNKNESS WEBBZ FACES SOUNDS BURDNESS SOFTNESS AND WARMTH AND NOTING THAT THEY ARE DEFINITELY BURD AND NOT ANYTHING ELSE.

Oh I want them so bad; I hope I can have one! Not now, though.

I don't have room in the coop or a secure run. But next year ...

You probably have to hand turn because they would get banged up in the egg turner since they're too small?

Duck eggs do better laying down across the board, more so than chickens... but Calls are even more sensitive to positioning... might be their size, egg shape, and their body shape... but not really sure... I just knkw I experimented with hatches all winter/spring... in the turner I was lucky to get 6-8 to hatch... hand turning I jumped to 24 hatched...

Oh, and misting the eggs increased hatch rates too...

Just love you, JB... :D

I cannot disregard the grey burd to the right. She is too round and cute.

How about the grey in the 3rd pic? Lady Grey is looking good for a mother of 12, eh? :gig
