Please advise - do not want it to happen again so need to try to id predator!
Woke up this morning to find our flock of 7 ducklings destroyed. Heads off of all of them. Spread all over the place. Would it be a family of racoons? Some eaten down to nothing, others just the head missing. It is devastating. Incubated and hatched them. They literally loved to cuddle with us. Just beginning to feather out. We live on an acre in the wooded part of BUCKHEAD Atlanta. Cage was open. Something that really requires fingers. Don't think a fox could open it or would eat all of them. We have an owl around here, but don't think he would eat the entire batch and chew the heads off, right? Terrible!!! I have never seen a raccoon here before. I have seen a 'possum.

So sorry for your loss. :hugs
It doesn't really matter what got in.
You need to predator proof the coop and start over.

Raccoons did it, if they opened a closed door. Every coop should be raccoon-proofed with some kind of lock which also protects it against any other predator because a raccoon is the ultimate thief in the night.
Sorry for your loss. I just love my ducks, I would be heartbroken. :hugs

:welcome :frow So sorry for your loss. My guess would be a coon. If you have a game camera, put it up. Most likely whatever it was will be back since it made a kill and then you will know what you're dealing with. Good luck...
