Duckling hatch count down :) ~ 1 week to go

Any babies yet? I'm sitting on three external pips and chewing my nails.

Not yet!! I am getting anxious but I am always anxious! I am trying not to get my hopes up but am really hoping things go smoothly!! Mom is acting weird so maybe she knows something I don’t. She also pooped on some of the eggs...should I wipe it off? I think mama has got things covered but I don’t want the poop to sink through the shell and contaminate the duckling. I guess that happens in the wild tho.... Hope yours hatch!!!

I have some hatching this weekend under our first broody mama. She was sitting on 14 but she detected one and then broke another so we are expecting 12. Hopefully she hatches all of them. But we won't be able to keep every one of them, the goats and turkeys don't really like baby ducks.

Well I was losing hope...until about 30 minutes ago I went to check on the eggs, expecting nothing, found 2 babies working there way out of the shell! We have 2 external pips and hopefully will see more! Mama is doing well and is very protective!! All good signs for now! I am so excited!!!

Wow! That whole duckling was in an egg? It looks huge!
Its markings are really cool, too. I wonder what it will look like when it's older.

That was my first thought, that guy is huge and he going to be so pretty.

I am really interested in the color of him? Not sure how he got that grey/black in him. His parents are pure buff and pekin so not sure how it pulled through.
