Update on the duck!
Wow, has this been an absolute crash course on ducks!!
Great news, the duckling has survived this far! It is growing fast and very smart! And seems healthy enough.
It’s now about a week old and spends a ton of time with me. I keep reading that this is a bad thing, but I don’t know any other option.. I tried giving it back to the mom with no luck, plus their duck pen isn’t set up for a baby this small. I will have to work on that part for the next time mom tries to make more ducklings, hopefully she will have better luck.
Only one duckling hatched out of the 13 eggs my parent’s Rouen sat on. The duck, “chirp chirp” was squished by Mom on day 29 and I had to intervene. It has fought hard to stay alive

Mother duck looked so sad when she realized she had not one baby to show for her month long effort and dedication.
Thanks to everyone who answered my cries for help in other posts!
