Duckling Thread!

It looks like that duckling is getting pecked or is pecking/eating his own feathers. This can happen when they are board or are in a crowded space. Be sure to make sure they have lots of room to run around and have things to do. If there is bleeding then put some poultry wound spray on it and put some kind of wrap on it so the other ducklings don't peck at it(if this is the case).

@FluffTheDuck can you see or feel any feathers coming in? Can you get a better close up?

It feels like pin feathers are coming in.

Maybe that is what it is but mine never did that when there feathers where coming in.

I have seen many a duckling look pretty sparse around two weeks on. So unless someone is pulling out down it’s probably normal. Except for the crusty stuff that I’d like to see up close.

You'd think I'd understand by now how fast baby ducks grow, but it still amazes me!
Still wondering about the lighter one... do Pekin or Buff ducklings ever look that white, basically from day 1?

Maybe the one with the pink bill is a white layer? It’s totally amazing how fast they grow! So cute too! @WannaBeHillBilly
