Duckling Thread!

Not sure if you can see the green coming in on our cayugas as they get their big boy/ girl feathers. They don’t like to cooperate when I’m making my after work feed rounds. Now that they are getting bigger I’m looking to move them to a larger pen where they have green grass and lots of room to run. Maybe this weekend. I just want to make sure they are big enough for the guineas to leave them alone, the bullies.:fl
They are beutiful..

Thanks guys. It’s neat to see these guys maturing and what they each turn out to be. So far your guys have amazed me with your prediction accuracy. The two tall yellow are undead looking like dawn and white runners. The yellow crested is getting white feathers and the browns are Khaki Campbell’s. Next will be confirming sexes lol

Your duckies really are pretty. And CLEAN! Reminds me that I need to pick up a kiddie pool or stock tub now that I have a day off. Mine fling their wet food like its a game and are always covered.

What sexes are you hoping for? Did you get straight run? I may have missed the part where you wrote about how you got your ducklings.

Thanks. They are not always clean, they are ducklings after all and the mud lately with all the rain we have had drives me insane. I’m looking forward to building their tub enclosure and connecting the drain pipe so that it is easy to clean frequently.

So how I got this crew ... after work I stoped by the local feed store and saw a random assortment of day old ducklings and I couldn’t resist the 4 black ducklings, 2 of which were crested. Then about a week and a half later another feed run, this time to TSC and low and behold assorted day old duckling, the 2 Khaki Campbell’s and 2 Indian runners (breeds identified from you all here:)) came home with us, then my son brought home a little yellow crested duckling days later. And here we are today....part of the duck addict crew....:celebrate

I cracked one and it hatched after j glued the cracks up

i wonder what you can do for that? Or is it already gone?

I’d think there would be almost no way to maintain proper moisture, prevent infection, and the duckling if it survived would not hatch properly. But I am by no means an expert on this.
