Duckling with foot problems

Ok thank you guys so much yes he has full use of the leg even though I am worrying I most certainly are enjoying them I love watching them swim!! Why does one leg look slightly different to the other? You guys have Been such a great help!

I posted and it disappeared good grief. Can you post an up close pic of both legs so we can see what your talking about.

Ok I can't really hold the leg though because he pulls it away and I am worried I may damage it further I think I will keep going with then rowers yeast and see how we go?

We had a duck hatch three days ago. After 48 hours he was unable to get out of the egg by himself. We were able to free him with a little work. After getting him out we noticed he had a hurt leg, it turned inward and he couldn't spread his toes. I came across this article and decided to try out niacin. He went from not being able to use his leg at all, to being able to hop around, then to walking on the knuckle of that leg, and today is now walking with the foot. While it's still not 100% it is a hundred times better than what it was!

Yay pleased for you!

That's great news. ducklings that show a niacin dif need to stay on it till at least 10 weeks old that is when they are growing so fast and can have the leg problems. Glad you caught it. All your ducklings can also have the niacin.

AND Welcome to BYC!!

So how is your duckling doing now did you get the Brewers yeast?

Yep they are on the Brewers yeast. The foot has pretty much completely straightened out and I don't think he is lying down as much
