Ducklings Showed Up?

We added some shavings. My neighbor once had ducklings (and a mom) in their backyard and when they called animal control, they brought them to the local duck pond. The problem is they look like domestic ducks so they might not survive there... Thank you
No! Don't let them take them to a duck pond! They will die! That is probably were these babies came from. Domestic ducks will get killed so fast left in the wild, especially babies. Ask animal control what they will do with them before they take them. If you can keep them, or find someone who can, please do.

That's gotta be the best way to get a couple of ducks to add to your flock! If I hadn't already overdone it on ordering chicks, I'd totally set up a duck run too! Only supposed to have 10 total on the property though...

We got an offer from someone to take them. They have a pond, a cat, and bunnies. (will the cat be okay with the ducklings?) We will go over to evaluate this afternoon.
No cat is the same. My barn cat Shadow is terrified of chickens and ducks, but when they’re young all she wants to do is kill them. I wouldn’t let them give the cat access until they are fully grown, and even then supervise them when they are together.

Cats wont even try to attack a full grown duck, but the babies, yes. As long as they are protected from the cat until they are full grown, it sounds like a great home! It may be a good idea for them to get a few more ducklings eventually though, because 1) two ducks is okay, but since there flock animals more is better, and 2) If one ends up being male, they will need 3 more females if they don't want anyone to be over mated.

We have several members who have posted about cats injuring or killing their adult ducks - so it does happen. Cats are individuals and predators. Even knowing this I suspect these ducklings have a far better chance at survival with a family that owns a cat than being released at a pond.

I have 3 cats and have never had a cat/duck incident in 6 years. I simply keep them separated.

Thank you all for your advice! Turns out one of my neighbors was duck sitting their cousins' ducks. So last night we gave their duckies back in exchange for some banana bread (no nuts). They will be going home (to my neighbor's cousins) on Friday. 😄
Lol! That is amazing! Perfect! I wonder why they had there cousins ducklings at there house? Thats weird! Lol! At least you found them a good home! Hahaha
