Ducks don't enjoy manna pro grit can I feed them playsand instead?

Play sand is purified of impurities supposedly right? So I imagine it won't be contaminated with heavy metals or other toxic substances. They seem to not like the manna pro grit I buy them and the dirt in yard is filled with broken shards of glass so that will not do. Will play sand be ok for them?

They don't need/eat a lot of grit. What do you mean by they don't enjoy it? I'd imagine play sand is too fine.

Also I need to mention that I cook their meals for them so grit is all the more important I think since I'm not using commercial feed.
There's a flower pot I have next to their pen they always stick their beaks into it trying to eat the dirt in there but they don't care much for the grit I buy
So I imagine they want something finer which got me thinking about buying them play sand since its basically clean dirt
But I don't know if its safe

Interesting. What do you fix for them? They need grit but they don't need a lot of it so you might not notice when they do take it.

If they have access to a yard they are getting small pebbles from the soil which is most likely why they are not eating a lot of grit. Sand can cause impaction if ingested in larger quantities. However, if they eat broken glass grit will most likely not help as the biggest risk internal tearing or is getting lodged into their intestinal lining.
