Ducks for a 1 Acre Suburbia

I go out and yell "Ladies" at the ducks every evening at 6:30 and they waddle up and put themselves away. They know they get fresh water and feed when they coop up. The geese come too. Only takes them about a week to learn. I also call ladies when when they get treats.

Nice! Mine aren't hard to put away, I guide them with a light, but they would love if I just let them stay out and party after dark.

Mine go inside when we and our cat go to bed. The amount of cats around here that prey on them is so high that they like to be in their closed pen when we are and our very protective cat is not around. They understand that they are safer that way.

Drake only flock would be a great idea. Male muscovys are very sturdy, good at adapting to their environment, and can fly away from predators. Plus they make no noise.

I personally love my Pekins but if you are wanting low maintenance ducks, I wouldn’t choose them. They are prone to health issues because of the weight. They are probably the most vulnerable to predators too since mine can only get 6 inches off the ground.
