Wow that sure is cold.......I am glad to here chester is doing well and handling the cold weather............

thank you, yes Ali is smart. when she wants to get somewhere she does it, she does get tired. I saw one of my blue runner ducks and my blue sweede drake picking on Ali the other day, they stopped when i walked up to them. the blue duck and the drake are both the dominant ones, so maybe this is why? she gets away from them easier when the pond is not frozen and they are all swimming.
so glad Elliott is doing well. any new pics of him?
ttyl
Hi, @CyndiD! I think you're right about the dominant birds being more aggressive about the bullying...Elliott used to get picked on a lot more than he does now, and it was often the highest-ranking ducks and drakes that were responsible. It never fails to amaze me that the ducks and chickens can be so mean (at least from the human perspective) to each other, especially to the disadvantaged flock members.

Your snow pictures are beautiful! Everyone looks cozy.

I Love these pictures of Elliott. so cute.

we have been very cold, our lowest was -1F a week or 2 ago, our average has been 10F lows and our highs have been about 20F.
Ali gets a heat lamp over her pen area, where she can ge near it or away from it. I had all my ducks and drakes together in the duck house since Oct. but i just took the drakes out and put them in the horse trailer. a couple of the drakes have been picking on a couple of ducks; so they had to be seperated.
I have been trying to clean up bumble foot on most of my ducks. I have 23 total.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmast, and New Years Eve.

I am so happy Dandelion is doing better, and Elliott and Chester, and all our Special Needs babies.

Wow that is cold i have been to Idaho once when i was like 11 years old i spent Christmas there with my aunt who was playing volleyball for Idaho state i had never seen anything like that in my life it was amazing.......I lived in San Diego until i was 31.....i wish you the best with all your ducks..............

Hi, all! While I was out "patrolling" the property today (the ducks had alerted to a hawk in a tree nearby), Elliott started following me. He has nibbled my boots a little in the past, but I didn't really think anything of it. Today, he was actually chasing me, running along behind me. When I stopped, he nibbled my pants and boots, and wrapped his neck around my leg. I hate to say it, but I think he thinks I'm a duck! He's acting frisky and the girls are too fast for him (that I've seen).

I picked him up and carried him around while I was checking the treeline, and when I put him down, he seemed to have lost interest in my boots. Poor guy...I just hope he doesn't become a stalker...

I love my Drake even though he can be a little jerk he loves to follow people around and pull on their pants so i just pick him up and show him who is boss he acts like he hates it but i know under his male pride he looks forward to the snuggle otherwise he would not let me pick him up lol
