At what age can you start to tell what gender Peking Ducks are. Also what is a safe ratio of Drakes and Female ducks?

You can usually begin to tell their gender at 6-8 weeks of age. Usually the ratio is 4 females to 1 male.

The last two Pekin we got we was able to tell around 3 weeks when one started practicing her quack. That is the fastest way, beyond vent sexing that I know of. Otherwise when they start getting drake curl, then you know it is a drake, which is quite a bit longer, ours now almost 6 weeks and still no curl, but obvious at this point only one of the two are female. It is most important to have proper ratio if you have more than one male I think. Which can be any where from 3-6 females to one drake. Depends on the drakes and how aggressive they are trying to mate. We right now have 16 ducks and 2 drakes that are adults. And no issue, soon we will have another duck and 2 more drakes, which not expecting issues. Although our intention is to eventually have them separate for breeding purposes. We house them in separate houses, but they share the yard right now.
