That is so exciting!!! They are REALLY loud!!! Mine kept me up a lot last night too!! Can't wait to see pics!! I think 2 of my bantams were fathered by a Mille Fluer D'Uccle roo!

GREAT NEWS!!! The one I thought died last night in the shell IS ALIVE!

I had to help it, it was stuck and it's little feathers were glued to the shell! THAT would explain why the poor thing couldn't get out!!! So the one last night with the foamy/bubbles died, but this one didn't!!

Last night I had the unfortunate experience of having to cull a new baby. He pipped and was making noise but needed help getting out. Once out I realized his insides were on the outside. I created a little gas chamber and ended his suffering. I felt terrible but he didn't stand a chance at survival and I didn't know if he was in pain or not. S/he would have been quite flashy I think, white with 3 black racing strips down the back (Leghorn mom, Australorp dad).

On a better note...here are pics of the babies that did make it.

This is Max, he was chewing on the incubator trying to get it open when the chicks were peeping.

This baby in the bin was bleeding a bit from it's vent when it hatched, with help, so it's in the brooder and can see the others but won't get trampled. I've been feeding it Nurtri-drench from a dropper, won't really need to eat until tomorrow when I'll set it up with its own food and water.

Well although it is sad that you had to, you did it for the best of the baby..I'm sorry for your loss

I hope the last baby does ok, maybe he/she will start eating and drinking later! What a cute little bunch

Thanks Bec, I have my fingers crossed for that little one. I'm hoping once it starts eating that it will do better. It doesn't seem to walk well. Don't know if it's tired or has something physically wrong.

OMG - I Have a PIP!! I picked the egg up before I realized it- is that bad?

CTChickenMom - I'm sorry about your baby chick, the others are so cute - yours too Bec
