how long can they stay in the incubator before moving to the brooder?

i hadnt thought my hatch out well, i put all stds and a few silkies to test the fertility and so i have one little silkie with some jgiants and std cochin just hatched.

I took mine out early because they were panting in there. I just had a spray bottle handy with warm water in it, opened, grabbed the babies, sprayed and closed. Everyone else hatched just fine.

My fiance called me this morning on my way to work to let me know that #15 (!!!!) had just hatched and there was another hatching also. My chicks are still all in the incubator. I've promised myself that I'm keeping the darn thing closed until Tuesday night, unless there is an urgent need to open it.

Last night, two chicks hatched and I thought they were deformed, with big naked heads and necks. I told the kids they were probably going to die. This morning they look good.....and I think they are Turkens. HAHAHA

Yes, you did! I have another that has zipped- but looks strange and I wonder if its a bad egg. I have another that is hatching as we speak. Its hard to get anything done- we just want to sit and watch it try to peck its way out. Too cool​

That's awesome lilblessings, Whatever you do, DONT open the incubator!!!!! I am almost sure that's why my last hatch was so bad.

I had to open it to add water and take out the chick that had hatched. I can't imagine opening it for a couple of seconds would make that big of difference?

I am ready for lockdown...but I have an old metal incuabator.....I want to see the hatching process....Can I make something quickly that would siffice?
