Okay I candled today which is actually day 13/14 for these eggs, two from my chickens and six from my turkeys. OMG there is life in there! Two turkey eggs were clear, one is ... iffy (yes dark blob but no visible veins and looks like extra air pockets in/around a dead chick), but three are healthy and waving at me

The chicken eggs are so dark it's harder to tell but they're the right air sac size and the right blob of darkness as to still be going.

This is the opening run for a homemade bator and it still needs tuning but by gosh, it is working. It was darned useful when my broody turkey broke up for a day and a half then decided she meant it.

I'm just so jazzed it's going at all. My first attempt with bought eggs in an LG was a disaster. These are just my eggs, not bought eggs and my homemade bator so it's a lot different this time.

At the very least this bator lets me turn eggs without getting my hands burned or knocking the lid onto the floor. (Okay yes, I am a clutz)

<Dancing for joy here

I have some eggs from my own chickens hatching out the 28th, I am experimenting and hatching with the higher humidity this week, then letting it drop and then raising it again next week for them. I will let you know if that works.
