Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

The only person that gets free eggs from me is the guy that rents the garage apartment. He has to live with the sounds of crowing roosters and drama queen hens, he gets compensated with eggs.
I do offer a military discount on my eggs, though...

When I was trying to sell eggs as a teen, one of my parents co-workers told me I should just give the eggs away since I get them for "free".

I worked odd jobs for neighbors to support my chickens. Sadly, most people still have this view on me selling my eggs, especially since I want $1 more than walmart sells eggs for. I haven't ever sold anymore than two dozen.
I did however give away eggs when I knew neighbors and friends are having rough times. I would still do this. Its just the arrogance of people who can afford to buy eggs, wanting them for free.

Wow, that really irks me that someone would say you get them for free.

I'd like to hear them to tell a poultry farmer that.

We have given a half dozen to interested people telling them...these are free but the next ones will cost ya...sort of get em hooked on the taste of what FRESH is and then the fact fresh costs more makes perfect sense!:D

Thats a good idea! But most people I know don't care for fresh, only cheap. I'm thinking of getting certified to sell eggs to resteraunts and stores since its only a class and test.

SHOCKING! you need to find better cooks to hang with. The flavor and results of cooking with fresh ALWAYS is worth the work and price of ingredients. . Farmers markets here sell out of fresh eggs very quickly, just like the best fresh produce. You get what you pay for in good food.

I feel super lucky that in my area, people don't question paying for farm fresh eggs. I think if I have someone that tries to argue the cost and suggests that I get them for free, I'll explain the cost that went into the housing and the fact that their feed isn't free, nor is their upkeep. I value my time, and my girls who work hard to produce for me. If they can't, then they don't get, simple as that.

I'm hopeful to sell my first dozen tomorrow. I've already given a dozen away to one friend. I have a few more friends who will get a free dozen, but after that...something's gotta give lol.

There's a lady where I work, who tells me my eggs are way to expensive, because she works at Walmart and Walmart eggs are cheaper than mine. I told her she can keep her factory month old eggs. I said, I don't have cheap goods, so I can't sell them at Walmart.

Ask her to compare the price for the free range or pastured eggs to what you are charging. Most Walmarts that sell eggs do have organic or free range eggs too. You aren't selling battery cage eggs. To compare your prices to those eggs is like comparing apples to oranges.
