Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

Went to the grocery store in our town today, instead of in the "city." Saw a guy that was at the hardware store picking up stuff when we were, just before. He starts talking about the cattle panels he picked up for a mobile fence for his goats, so we told him about our chickens. He starts talking about his and proceeds to tell us that if we come across any with green legs, to get those ones "cause they're purebred!"

Had to turn my head to chuckle lol

I got 4 with green legs! They must be pure breed!!!! Is there such a thing as pure breed Easter Eggers ??? LOL!!!

Hatchery Easter Egger aren't really mixed breeds like most seem to think. They just haven't been bred toward a specific breed standard at all.

Easter Eggers are a mixed breed with no specific standards except to lay green/blue eggs. They can be based on Ameraucana and mixed with no specific breed except to produce a better egg layer. Any mixed bird that lays blue/green eggs is an EE regardless of their heritage. Legbar X ??? or Ameraucana X ?? or Isbar X ?? should lay colored eggs but will not resemble each other. They are just beautiful fun chickens that lay pretty eggs. They can have any comb style, any leg color any feather color with or without beards. The "Ameraucanas" from hatcheries are not bred to any standard except hopefully colored eggs and that is NOT a guarantee. I love my multi colored flock of EEs.
