And pop him once for me too. I'm another mom of a special needs kid.

Your son needs to take Sex Education 101. He obviously does not know what a period is. Chickens don't have them. Very few animals do. Reproductive cycles, yes. Periods, no. And if he thinks animal products are so bad for us, ask him while he is doing research to see if he can find a primate, any primate, that subsists on a totally vegan diet in the wild.
"Oh, wow, you are going to let your son be around live chickens?!"
to my son: "You be sure to wash your hands after every time you touch them, or you'll get sick!"
You have got to be kidding me!
A. That's MY kid, not your kid. How DARE you tell him what to do right in front of me????
B. As if I don't make sure my child washes his hands!
C. How dare you tell my son that the chickens will make hims sick?!"
A lot depends on the breed of dog and whether it's an indoor or outdoor dog as to how much fats they can have, or even if they should have any.Yes too much fat/grease greases the works too much. that is as polite as I know to put it. I had a dog and by accident OD'd the dog with grease, the dog I knew felt bad a few days and I wish I had done it to myself instead because I didn't know not to feed her lots of fat/grease and she didn't know not to eat all of it....
You know what I remember? This wild grape we have in East Texas called a Muskadine... My grandma would take us out to the woods and hunt them and we would eat them straight off the vine till our tummies hurt. Oh, and my Grandma had this pear tree... I was raised a city girl and thought pears came from a can (they were put there by a man in a factory downtown....), and when I had my first taste of pear straight from that tree, I couldn't stop eating them. My grandmother kept telling me I would get sick, but I thought "How can somethign this wonderful make me sick? I sure found out how a couple hours later...my earliest memory with food is eating concord grapes off the vine in the backyard with my Grandad. Thanks for making me remember that... my second food memory is eating fried eggs... my gang turned 20 weeks old today, so maybe soon I will enjoy thinking about THAT memory while I eat some super fresh eggs!!!
