Wow. Ethnic markets are nonexistent here and now I'm suddenly a bit jealous lol. All we have is Amish markets which work out pretty good for fresh produce at a good price but none of them sell meat.

I guess this last little bit proves just how varied ethnic shops are by region. The local ones around here are not that great. I'd only use the meat for catfish bait personally. It is ROTTEN.

Basically, it just pays to know where to get the best deals for your area and to also make sure that those deals are really just that; deals. My mother used to spend half the day driving from one store to the next to save three cents on this or four cents on that. Spent more on gas than she ever saved by not just consolidating her shopping to as few stores as possible.

I L-O-V-E the produce at our Hispanic market! It is so fresh that sometimes it still has moist dirt on it....not warehoused for eons like some big chains. And by far less expensive than those supermarkets that display their produce like it's art. "Spotlight: Waxy bell peppers and pampered baby beets"

Same here! I just bought a 3 pound bag of limes for 75 cents and a huge basket of hot peppers for 50 cents Onions and garlic were "dirt cheap" as well. I grow my own tomatoes and cilantro so my homemade salsa is darn near free this time of year.

The meat is also very reasonably priced. You have to be there the day it comes in or you don't get any.

Not all ethnic markets are created equal. One halal market is named the Yuck (which is one syllable out of its actual name) due to the fact that there are commonly many out of date and even spoiled items on the shelves. There is one Latino market where I've thought of dropping by with the girls in order to save money on feed by letting them have at the flies.

In this area, many are very clean and modern since some groups, such as the Afghans and Sikhs are well into the second and subsequent generations. Sikhs have been in California and in the Oregon lumber camps since at least the 1890s, if not before.

I was just going to suggest that:  Puma, mountain lion.  I'm sure there are several other names for the same creature.  They don't exist in Maine, though I've seen several video clips of them, and a very credible neighbor had a face to face sighting of one a number of years ago.  Of course you Aussies need some coyotes and wolves also.

They dont need coyotrs or wolves they have dingos witch are horrific predators and scavangers. If they had a big cat species all there mammal species would be endangered or extinct bad enough the roos and wallabies are getting thete do to domestic and invasiv species.

I've lived here 12 years and haven't ever seen a dingo. They're not that common in large parts of the country. What's killing a lot of the native wildlife are foxes and housecats.

I have 1 buff Orpington and 3 white leg horns and 1 black sexlink they just started laying eggs and the first day I got 5 white eggs the second I got two eggs and today I got one egg I was told the buff and the sex link would lay brown eggs, will they start laying brown eggs or are they going to be white

Your leghorns will lay white, the other 2 breeds will lay brown.

Ok so then my next question is how did I get 5 white eggs the first day I thought they only laid 1 a day if there is not much day light in the day

I had a dingo/husky mix he was a very good companion to me for 10 years his name was Bandit.
