Dutch Bantams Breed Thread

Pics
Hey all, my sister is getting married and moving and can not take her birds with her. She has mostly CLB and a few BCLB. She's got two nice roos left, and 6-8 hens. They are a combination of Pathfinders, Moser, Frank, and a breeder from NC that I don't have a name for.

If you are interested, pm me and I will forward you to her.

Thanks

Can't she hide them in the house or something? They are teensy. Maybe a spare bedroom?

Just joking...kind of. Well that is a bummer. Wish shipping wasn't so expensive (and that I wasn't saving up to build a new row of breeder stalls...and a family vacation that my hubby & son really do deserve

). Otherwise, I'd have her ship them all to me! I just love the pair that I got from you guys last year. Even my husband likes them--and I can't say that about any other birds on the farm! I hatched my very first chick from them earlier this week:

The Dutch I could hold on to until Nov. when I head out to Ohio National. I have room for them in the 'Exhibition' barn that is heated and has water/elec. I am trying to collapse everyone down into that barn to make choring easier this winter.

I am keeping her Ameraucanas (blacks, lavenders) and her MGBs(birchen, brown/red, and silver blues) going for her for the next couple years. Hopefully she will find a place for them in FL by then. Everything else must go. She is taking one Split Ameraucana hen 'Emmie' to FL with her--it's a no-chicken zone so she will have to hide her.

She is handing out dozens of Dutch eggs to 4-Hers until the birds are gone. We aren't tracking the hens anymore, so it's anyone's guess what will pop out of those eggs. She switches the roos every couple weeks. Still should be some nice birds, we culled hard last fall.

If I knew for sure that I was going to make to Ohio (I am planning on it, but it's not 100% set in stone yet)--and if I wasn't in the midst of Dutch hatching madness (I'm setting every egg my little hen gives me, plus I've got a dozen or so from another breeder that should hatch in the next couple days)--I might ask you to hold onto them for me! But I can't commit to it right now. Shoot, I've got a toddler--I can't plan what I'm doing next week, much less November....

Good luck to your sister in finding a place that's not in a chicken-free zone! I don't know what I'd do if I had to live separate from my menagerie of goats, horses, and chickens!
