I believe someone referred to silkies as Exotic something-or-other Ground Parrots a few months back.

Why is dying a bird wrong? Do any of y'all dye your hair to colour grey or go blonde or just for fun? How is it any different?

I have a silkie who was a bright pink several years ago. And I had another couple who dribbled various colours of gatorade down their fronts and dyed themselves a number of years ago.

Okay, now you inspired me to find some blue or purple dye--maybe the gel so I can go really bright.

I used the gel food coloring

You have to soak the bird in water and scrub it to take the oil off the feathers

I put a whole gel of blue in about 2 gal of water, dunked the bird and got a light blue color. Then i smeared a whole tube of yellow all over it by hand and then dunked it in blue again and got yellow green. Its pretty easy and he looks relly good. way better than the pic's.

He looks very pretty but NO way Jose am I going to dye my White EE hen a different color than she is. She won 1st place AND Grand Champion out of 22 hens. I don't think the judges would've picked her as the winner if she was dyed.
