Dying hen. **PICS**

Now if she had Cocci than the others would have it right? Now is this Cocci like the Coccicidia that chicks get? Or is it completely different? She is thirsty, and her stools are black and small. How would you treat an infection not knowing exactly what it is?

When I see a tail down like that I like to worm with Valbazen. Use 1/2 ml for a full size bird. Repeat in 10 days. Wazine is really weak and only gets adult round worms. Repeat the Valbazen in 10 days. She is really beautiful. I'd love to have a Buckeye like that.

Ok. I agree with the worms there. In fact, I should worm the whole dang flock. Thanks for the advice.

Best of luck, and let us know how it goes!

Just a thought because I didn't notice anyone else mention this but have you checked her for mites and lice? Wazine is really only good for round worm and it sure doesn't rid them of mites or lice like the ivermectin does. I personally use ivermectin pour on for cattle like chookschicks mentioned, not only does it worm them but it also gets rid of lice/mites all in one shot. I have my flock on a preventative schedule so I usually never have issues. Using it every 3 months so they get treated 4 times a year. Best of luck to you

is she laying? her abdomen looks rather swollen to me in that photo.....could she be egg bound (hence her funny stance, she has eggs stuck up there...or perhaps internal laying ? whatever it is she doesnt look like a happy chook

The excessive thirst and black stools are probably coming from blood loss secondary to worms. I agree that she needs worming and I think ivermectin would be a safe bet. Valbazan would be another good option but be sure if you use it that you double check her for mites/lice and treat her for them separately.
I would also give her probiotics such as kefir, yogurt and organic apple cider vinegar to help her system heal. Plenty of high protein foods such as cooked eggs, meats ( not processed meat) and alfalfa will also help as she will have lost a lot of protein from the heavy parasite load and anemia. Red meat can be especially helpful.
