Early February 2016 Hatch - Who's In?

I candled today and 39/40 are looking good. Air cells a little small for 6-7 days. Slightly staggered due to egg production numbers. 1 scrambled blood ring. Removed. My humidity gauge has got to be wrong. I need to disable the alarm and get a new one. Have to wait until Friday.

39 is great! Everything was wonky for me the first week but seems to have settled down.

I keep meaning to buy a sponge! Ugh. On my list to do for tomorrow. We've been snowed in since Thursday so just started getting out and about again.

You have a better excuse than me! I haven't been able to find any sponges that aren't "antimicrobial" - I need to go to the dollar store and see if they have any plain ones. I used a sponge last time for lockdown and it worked great.

I took a clean white rag and set it in a small bowl in the center last hatch. The dollar tree (if you have them) have regular sponges. Try looking in the arts area. Weird I know but they use them for painting sometimes.
I've also heard about using flat rocks. Like you see in small sand gardens. They hold heat and humidity.

Candled my Welsumer eggs and 3 out of 7 were infertile. One of the viable eggs has a hole in the shell though (not the membrane). We'll see how it hatches. On day 14 for my two mutt eggs and day 8 for the Welsumers! Time has flown since I set them

I pray the remainder make it and are fine.
Some posters have used tape, melted wax or glue to repair a crack or whole. It may work for you.

Thanks! I put tape over the hole. The hole is in the fat end of the egg--there's no defined air cell. The embryo is upside down in the egg also, not sure why that happened, so it may not make it. Thx for your prayers :)

You and the chick are very welcome! I'm not learned enough to know about air cell and egg shape. I think I was leaning toward hand turning with eggs on their side for some reason.
