Earthquake!

Quote:
I had a tension headache arriving from nowhere yesterday and lasting all day today. After the earthquake I had a 'duh!' moment and the headache is gone.

We were eating Easter dinner when the quake happened. It felt like someone was jiggling our house a bit. Unusual only in the strength, but not unusual for California.

A caller called into one of the LA news stations (we have satellite TV, so we don't get "local" channels) and said that the EQ knocked out power in Victorville.

I don't think so...I was in Victorville when I felt it! Half the people in the house didn't feel it at all...it surely didn't knock out power in our area!

There was some bozo from Victorville that called in all skeered and said his pool cracked in half. WhAT?? BS ALERT!

Hey, look what happened to my chickens when the earthquake hit!

Just kidding. Actually I took this about 5 mins before the shaker. The girls had wandered into the house through my open door policy and I thought I'd snap a picture before escorting their feathery butts outside. Well, just as I snapped my dog decided to lend a hand. Couldn't resist posting the resulting image

I just stood there listening with my mouth open. Ken said we need to call in and say every one of our chickens laid an egg!!!

Debi, did you hear CNN talking about it? They had Bill Nye the Science Guy and their meteorologist trying to talk about the science of the earthquake. I had to start laughing. I am a geologist, not a meteorologist or mechanical engineer (like Bill Nye) and wouldn't dare trying to talk about their field as if I was an expert. It was pretty funny the "facts" they were stating. Well. Bill Nye didn't say a whole lot, but the meteorologist was spouting off a bunch of jibberish that was completely inaccurate. Not once did they bring on anyone with actual expertise in seismology (like the USGS or SCEC (Southern California Earthquake Center).

My macaw was squawking right before the quake. I was upstairs at the computer. By the time it was over I had motion sickness. The house really swayed.

I knew that there would be aftershocks...I just waited for the bird to tell me...he started squawking again and sure enough we had an aftershock, then another.

The parrots always know before we do...it's amazing!!

I listen ONLY to Lucy Jones. That woman has it down to a science. She is BY FAR the smartest person as far as earthquakes go! I didn;t see the CNN piece though. Dang it all!!!!

My cat that only likes Ken was rubbing all over me about a half hour before the quake. Odd.
