I had a tube of sugar cookie dough in my fridge and I made up these bars.
I got the dough free in some "buy this item, get this item free" thing at the store, but I HATE tube type cookies.
They are too flat when you cook them and they taste all chemically. Yuck!
Anyway, here is the recipe.
Ingredients - 1 tube sugar cookie dough - divided into thirds
1 to 2 pint sized jars of jam (I like 2 jars - they make the bars extra yummy)
In a well greased 9x9 baking dish spread 2/3 of the cookie dough.
Spread the jam on top of the dough.
Break up the remaining dough into small quarter-sized chunks and sprinkle over the jam layer.
Bake at 375 degrees for 35-45 mins. Until the dough is light brown and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean (without any dough sticking to it, there may be jam on it -that's OK).
Take out of the oven - cool for 10 mins and eat. Or cool and keep in your refrigerator for a snack later.
It's good hot and cold.
Yum!
I bet a lot of people do this, but I just thought to do it yesterday. Enjoy!
