So, what kind of pad do you put in it? What does stitch a ditch mean? That's a pretty swell looking duck you have there
Mostly, it's just consistency. If you do it every time they come in, then they know it's coming, and they may not ever come to like it, but they will accept it. The biggest thing is to leave it on even know they are pouting and throwing a fit. If you take it off because they're upset about it, they'll do it every time. If they don't settle down soon enough, try giving them a treat they really enjoy after you put it on. (I use toys to distract her if she's having a day of picking at it)How do you get them to wear it? Is there a good and easy way to train them?
I'm not sure where the stitch in the ditch is to know how to explain it. I looked at my pic/diagrams and can't see where I put it. If you tell me where you see it, I can explain better. As for what I put in it. I buy the smallest diapers and cut them in half. I put the cut side towards the back because it's got a powder in the diaper that turns to gel when it's wet, and she can reach the front with her bill. I don't want her to eat that stuff when she picks at that front edge, and she can't pick the back. Those diapers cut in half, make the front half more absorbent that the back half, so I use the thick for morning and thin for evening since she poos less in the afternoon. So, what kind of pad do you put in it? The bibs were $2.50 for 2 and the pacifier holders were $3.50 for 2. Just stitch a ditch in each edge of a bib, thread elastic and tack each end. I used 3 pacifier holders. One for around neck, one to each side of that then clip end attached to point of bib on belly and down back. Only thing I'm going to change and you might consider is leaving a way to open the neck hole. (Leave 3rd clip on to close around neck) because it slides on easy enough but she has a lot of neck feathers and is hard to slide back off. Let me know if you want me to draw step diagrams.
