East RIver - South Dakota

Our local feed/farm store gets theirs from welp and I've had good luck. I also have ordered direct from Cackle. They are nice b/c their minimum is 15 and you can mix fowl so if you want a few ducks or geese you can add them to meet the minimum or just to add a few. All the stock I currently have is from cackle.

WOW that is a lot of birds!!!

Would love to get a large amount like that, but wife would probably make me sleep in the coop then. LOL

The runnings store in town gets theirs from either hoovers hatchery or welp depending on the bird.

The hoovers birds are still reasonably priced, but the welp ones they added almost 2 dollars a bird to.

Have looked at cackles site, but Ive also read a lot of less than positive reviews about them.

Oh trust you me, my husband keeps asking 6 right? You are Only KEEPING 6... the rest are going away after you brood them, right? LOL

I have stated of MINE (smile) I am only keeping 6, plus our granddaughters Egyptian chickens. No other CHICKENS are staying permanently at our place (smile).

Mind you I am rearing my friends until they are old enough to be placed into her hen house. But then she in return is providing me her old soup hens for butcher. Another is rearing MY turkeys and her turkeys :D but I get to PLAY with the variety before they go to their permanent homes -- so at least I get to have a Chicken math fix

I had to warn my husband of the NUMBERS coming so he didn't freak out when the 2nd, then 3rd and then 4th order arrived. :D

I've ordered in different grouping so we can keep straight the varieties arriving. Some people want very specific breeds and many of the day-old chicks look the same across breeds.

But yeh, my husband would put me out in the coop too if I kept them all

LOL!!!!

I know the wife has commented on my "hobby". She is happy that at least its legal and can provide something out of it and not set in the yard.

Was looking at the list you have and I believe there are some birds you have that I would be interested in.

Looking at the following:

Silver-Laced Cochins
Partridge Cochins
Black Langshans
Salmon Faverolles
Light Brahmas

Also would be interested in some Egyptians and crevecours when you order them.

Actually the list I gave has already been ordered. I tend to order in small groups of each type so that hobbyist in town can have a variety of "pretty" birds that look unique from each other. But I work to research the breeds to find varieties that should do well in our area. I have a backyard aviary setting so my flock would fall into the 'urban chicken" classification. I might be able to add some Egyptian and Crevecours to the current June order though. How many are you wanting of each?

I would be looking at about 5 egyptians and 3-5 crev's

I will be keeping an eye out at the local runnings as well just in case.

Just keep me informed as to what is ready when, so I dont wind up overbuying birds.

Thanks

Steve

Depending on who your feed store orders through, they may "special order" chicks for you.The Bomgaars here in town will order whatever you want and there is no extra charge since they've already met minimum orders with their standard breeds they keep on hand. I had them order me ducks last year too.

I was able to add 3 Egyptians to my order but they said the Crevecours weren't available

Steve, I will be able to accommodate 3, possibly four of the Egyptians you want. How many of the others I mentioned were you hoping to get? I have I believe three of each ordered, but I can bump up the order still since they aren't due to arrive until June. Just let me know.
