Easter Egger club!

A RED TAIL HAWK KILLED MY FRIZZLED COCKEREL YESTERDAY ...i'm still in shock... he was only 10 months old...he was no match...my kids were home and they said he saved the hens. Happen so fast they didn't have time to save him....they were outside with the chickens in our front yard...left them for a few minutes...saw what was going on out the window but wasn't fast enough to save him. It's a sad silent morning for me...no funny crowing :(

Bummer! sorry for your loss..... so many critters all want to munch on our poor chickens.

I have a question, I have three roosters, I did not keep a EE rooster, I have no idea why not, most likely I had a brain fart. The roosters are a Black australorp, a Dixie rainbow and a RIR, any pullets I keep will not produce easter eggs will they ? I need a EE rooster to keep from getting all brown eggs next generation correct?

EDIT:::::

Actually I do know why I did not keep a EE rooster. At the time I processed the roosters, I was thinking only of meat production. I was not thinking about eggs and did not know how much I would enjoy my blue, green and olive eggs. I was only thinking " these are scrawny little birds that are hard to clean". I have found since we have eaten some, a scrawny bird is just the right size for the 2 of us and we skin them anyways. I think I wll be forced to get a EE rooster somewhere this spring,,,,,,,,,,sigh....

If your hens lay blue/green eggs then yes you will get green egg layers and maybe some brown ones . Depends on if your hens have 1 or 2 blue egg genes .

they are so feisty, When you let them out to stretch (which I can only do a couple times a day right now)
they just flap and fly everywhere, I confine them to the bathroom so I can stem=am clan after...lol
It's hatd to get pics
They are not filling out the same way our other two EEs did, and I know its probably the breeds involved
but at this time with the others the rooster really didn't have that much tail, (we are crossing our fingers for girls)

Thats a very interesting cross. Bantam or full size brahma? I have a Buckeye X D'uccle rooster. Beautiful chicks by the way.
